Wolters Kluwer: Managing your internal audit risks

September 29 @ 8:00 am - 9:00 am

As internal auditors we have a key role in our organization in ensuring that risks are identified and appropriately controlled. But how well do we understand and manage the risks that we run into in our own activities? We have a responsibility to actively manage our own risks, including risks relating to our audit activity and those associated with running the function. To do this effectively we need to establish robust risk management practices including defining our risk appetite, conducting thorough risk control self-assessments and being clear on accountabilities for managing these risks.

Join us to explore an integrated framework for successful internal audit risk management, drawn from real world experience of internal audit risk management. This session will be particularly relevant for Chief Audit Executives, Directors and Head of Audit and Functional operations leads who are accountable for the effective management of the internal audit function and managing the multitude of risks internal audit activities create.

Our speaker is Jonathan Chapman who will be talking about his experience of successful culture auditing. Jonathan operated as Internal Audit Chief Operating Officer at Aviva and Lloyds Banking Group and more recently has been advising Internal Audit Executives on successful functional change. He was shortlisted in the 2018 Risk and Audit Inspirational Leader awards.

Learning Objectives:

  • Hear practical experience on how to develop and implement a successful internal audit risk management framework.
  • Gain ideas and inspiration on how to identify, manage and report successfully on your internal audit risks.
  • Share ideas and gain insight into your functions’ own risk management challenges.
